DetailsAs it celebrates its 25th anniversary year, Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity is inviting the local community to come together on Saturday 5 September 2026 for Walk Together 2026, a scenic community walk through Haywards Heath and Bolnore Village, raising vital funds for children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments across the South East. With two routes to choose from, Walk Together is perfect for all abilities: 5K accessible walk - a fully accessible route through Bolnore Village, ideal for families, pushchairs and wheelchair users. 15K mixed-terrain trek - a more challenging route through Haywards Heath and Bolnore Village for those looking to push themselves. Both walks start from Victoria Park in Haywards Heath and promise a scenic tour of the area, highlighting the fantastic green spaces in our local community.  This year, a fully accessible, family friendly Bear Hunt has been added. Walk Together is a wonderful opportunity to come together with friends, family or colleagues, enjoy some gentle exercise, meet like-minded people, and give something back to local families who need support. Last year’s event raised an incredible £20,000, helping to fund specialist therapies and support for children and families. This year, the charity hopes to raise even more to meet growing demand for its services.  As part of our 25th anniversary year, our focus is to reach 25 more children who will benefit from the life-changing support we offer. To register, visit www.dvlcc.org.uk/events/walk-together-2026/. Once signed up, participants will receive everything they need to kickstart their fundraising journey. Not a walker? The charity is also looking for volunteers to help with stewarding and event support on the day. To find out more, contact Anya Irvine at anya.irvine@dvlcc.org.uk.
CostEntry is just £20 per adult, £5 per child and £2 for the Bear Hunt. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome, making it a fantastic day out for the whole family. At the finish line, participants can enjoy a free BBQ and refreshments provided by the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), and every paying participant will receive a commemorative medal to celebrate their achievement. While there is no minimum fundraising target, we kindly ask each participant to aim to raise £150 per person.
